Bookworm Tutors in Minnetonka specializes in the Barton Reading & Spelling System for kids with dyslexia in grades K-12.
The Barton system will bring students to adult reading, spelling, and basic writing levels. Adult level in the U.S. is equivalent to mid-9th grade.
Created in 2000, Barton is Structured Literacy that is based on the Orton-Gillingham (OG) approach. Barton is research- and evidence-based and based on the science of reading. Barton is intensive intervention that is multisensory, direct, explicit, structured and sequential. And Barton is the only OG-based program that includes spelling instruction.
We offer year-round, one-on-one private tutoring for students in-person and online. Our private office is located at 4300 Baker Road in Minnetonka near 494 & Hwy 7. We see students:

A 60-minute, private and one-on-one tutoring session is $120, which includes all instruction, supplies and materials. All learning is done in-person (or online) and there is no homework for students.
The Barton program is intensive intervention that requires a commitment of two 60-minute sessions per week, year-round. This is the minimum amount of instruction time required that provides the frequency and intensity needed to close the skills gap. This time is imperative to the success of your student and is the number one predictor of success in Barton. Alternatively, students could attend three 40-minute or four 30-minute sessions per week, year-round.
Payment is required at time of service. We accept personal check, debit, credit and ACH (electronic transfer) payments. Please note, Barton tutoring sessions are typically not covered by healthcare insurance..
